Big as the Sky

The simple things that we take for granted. The sky.
The weather the past couple of days have been really dreadful. One moments its hot and shiny, the next moment its pouring like no one's business. Especially when you are just about to get out of bed and start your day. Then it clears and its really hot and humid once again.

Managed to look up at the clear sky one day and woah... Reminded me that I see this amazing blue everyday and really not take notice of it. Really breathe taking if you ask me. Try it sometime.

It really like suffering a bout of myopia (thats if they actually came in bouts). You know what I mean.
Nothing like a good knock to bring things back in focus.

Bittersweet

Wow, time really flies when you are in thick of things. It really quite challanging trying to keep up with the younger ones. Must be age kicking in. I must confess things have not been a bed of roses, and it sure is fustrating having to deal with kids who just do not listen! This new change has really got me pretty excited. Now instead of dealing with a dead computer screen, I get to deal with people, real people. That excites me and really the challages that they pose. I am reminded of what it means to be alive once again.

Again, I come to a cross-road. Not so much of a 360 degree change kind, but the kind that will help you on your journey. Looking back, the past 6 weeks have been trying and at the sametime rewarding. One word to describe the kind of feeling that is going through my head - bittersweet.

I know I have to take this road, the road that we help me reach my destination. But at the sametime, the undulating road that I have taken so far is one that will be missed. The bonds, the friendships, the laughter, the fustrations, those I need to leave behind for a while. But I know I'll be back.

Easy Drive

Hi!

Well, I'm back. Suffice to say that there have been some major changes it my life. I'm on to a new job which is very much near home. So that means no more traffic jams and cursing and swearing behind the steering wheel. However, the journies are shorter (5 minutes to be exact) but rest assured, the thoughts won't be. Stay tuned for more confessions.

Much ado about nothing

The current buzz is really about the announced GST hike that is going to happen in 2007. Gosh it really has been that long since GST was introduced. Remembered it started off at 3% and went up to 5%. Remember it being 5% for quite a while. Well, its announced that it will go up in 7%. Something which was talked about before. Its finally happening.

Yeah, sure, things are going to be a bit more expensive. Been hearing a lot of murmurs going on. Complains mainly. You wonder for a people who buy handphones whenever a new model comes out or new gadgets all the time, we complain a whole lot about spending an extra 2%. Here is a secret for you, instead of buying so many things, you might want to try and save. That way, the 2% hike isn't going to cost you your next meal.

The Kyrgyz have a saying, "A wise man is not one who knows much, but one who has travelled far". I personally like that saying. For a global trotter wannabe, I've been to quite a number of cities in the world. Of all the developed countries I've been to, I've seldom encounted a goods and service tax as low as Singapore's. They usually are in the double digit. So whilst there is an increase in GST, its really not that big a deal. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy having to pay more either, but in perspective, we aren;t worse off than a whole lot of people in the world. Just puts things into perspective. Myopia. quit complaining.
